"My name's Scott, and I'm working with a bunch of other people to put together this video series called Urban Entry."
Urban Entry started as a series of lessons taught by Denver leaders Robert Gelinas (a black pastor) and Jeff Johnsen (a white non-profit leader). In the late 1990s, Jeff and
Robert traveled to local churches to help followers of Jesus engage race, poverty, gentrification, and other topics - inviting suburban churches to learn from the "research and development" done by urban churches. In 2001, they partnered with Scott Lundeen to create the MetroActive series - six 30-minute videos that were used by churches around Denver. Scott moved to New Orleans to work with an urban ministry there, and his experiences with Hurricane Katrina gave Scott a renewed interest in bridging communities.
In 2008, Scott returned to Denver to update the MetroActive series. Robert (Colorado Community Church) and Jeff (Mile High Ministries) were now busy leading large organizations, and they challenged Scott to take new leadership in the video project. After multiple meetings and focus groups, the Urban Entry series was launched - moving from packaged 30-minute videos shot around Denver to individual 15-minute videos shot around the country. Instead of Jeff and Robert teaching, Scott became the host, asking questions and bringing the audience to listen to the "reseach and development" of urban leaders and neighbors around the country.
These Urban Entry videos are designed to be a resource - a "lesson in a box" for leaders to start a conversation, teach a class, lead a mission team, speak at an event, train volunteers, or host a group.
Each video represents the collaboration of organizations like the Christian Community Development Association, videographers like Jason Vaz, and a host of donors, friends, and partners.
We equip urban leaders with media resources to help them invite, train, and mobilize their communities to follow Jesus in cross-cultural contexts.
Urban Entry would like to thank those who have generously partnered with us to create these videos and engage communities.
